Showtime

So we took Brooke to her first movie yesterday. We went and saw the early showing of Over The Hedge at Quail Springs Mall AMC. It was actually a pretty good movie and Heather and I laughed several times. As with most animated movies these days it's loaded with celebrity voices - Bruce Willis, Steve Carell, Wanda Sykes, William Shatner, Nick Nolte, Gary Shandling and others. Wanda Sykes playes a skunk named Stella and she has some pretty funny lines. Anyway, it was a good time and Brooke seemed to enjoy going to the movies.

After the movie we went to Cheeseburger In Paradise for lunch. We hadn't been yet and it was pretty cool. The burgers were really tasty.

That's that

My Little Rock 'N' Roll Queen

No... not The Subways song... but my awesome kid! Last night Heather was making dinner and came and got me and told me to go look what Brooke was doing. I found her in the kitchen floor with a makeshift drumset assembled out of lids, bowls, skillets, pots, and pans and a number 2 pencil as the drumstick. The story goes . . .

Heather found her using the pencil banging on a candle in a jar. Heather was afraid she would break the candle jar, so she pointed Brooke to the kitchen and got out a couple of things for her to bang on. Apparently she didn't like whatever Heather gave her, so she started digging around in the cabinet and assembled her set!

After she played drums for a bit she dug around in the cabinet and found two lids and played them like cymbals... honestly, I didn't show her or give her any ideas. She just kinda figured it out.

Of course I encouraged her like crazy and told her how awesome it sounded. Then this morning, she got up before I left and grabbed her drum pieces and pencil and wanted to play some more. I'm ready to get her a DW set now.

I posted some pictures on my flickr site.
